We would like to take a few moments and share our policies and philosophies that make up our adoption process. It might surprise you to hear that adopting a dog or adopting a cat from CARA is a little more involved than walking in and picking one you like. First, we want you to know the process we take in adopting our animals is the same for everyone and we understand it can be frustrating.
We also want you to know that everything we do is in the best interest of the animals and the potential new pet owners. Please be patient with us as we go through the adoption process. It is important to us that we place the pet that is right for you in your home the first time.
We are committed to finding forever homes for all our CARA pets and pride ourselves at being good at what we do. It's important to note that the pet you may be interested IS NOT always the best for your family, home and lifestyle. We are firm believers that the pet chooses its home. Allow us to perform our matchmaking "magic" to ensure that you, your family and your new pet will be happy.
We spend an average of 12 hours every day with these animals and we know them better than anyone. We help these animals because we love and care for them - we are passionate about what we do. Trust us to do what we know is best for your situation.
Let us repeat that we don't ever mean to be frustrating to or evasive with you. We want you to understand that it's stressful and upsetting - in fact, downright devastating - for the animals, for us and for you when adoptions don't work out and pets have to come back to us. So please try to bear with us and be patient. And understand that going through the process the way we do is really the best policy - for all of us.
Thank you!
