Pet of the Week

Stinky - Stinky is a happy little guy. He's around 7 years old but is plenty energetic. Stinky is kid, cat and dog friendly. He weighs around 12 lbs. Stinky got his name because he had rolled in something less than pleasant the day he was found as a stray. It took a few days and several baths but the smell finally went away. Unfortunately, the name stuck. So don't let his name stop you from considering this little man. You really won't find a more lovable little dog.

Welcome to CARA

CARA Site CARA is a non profit "no-kill" animal rescue group located in Jackson, MS that provides food, shelter and care for hundreds of abused, unwanted, and stray animals. CARA is operated mainly by volunteers and a few part-time employees. The expenses for our programs and services are supported by private donations from individuals, businesses, and fund raising events throughout the year. We receive no funds from the city, county, state or federal government. The primary goal of CARA is the placement of our adoptable animals into loving, caring homes; thereby enhancing the bond between animals and people. Our services are designed to promote responsible pet ownership. By education, communities can learn the benefits of proper care & treatment of all pets and why spay/neuter is important.

I looked at all the animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something," He replied. "I created you."

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden; Where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace.
