Great Scott Putting on the Dog FundraiserNEXT BIG EVENT -- Great Scott will host "Putting on the Dog" at their store, 4400 Old Canton Rd, Saturday June 8, 2013, from 11am to 3pm.  The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen will donate great food and Campbell's Bakery will donate sweets for the event.  Both will be offered for a great price to help raise money for the shelter.  We'll have a silent auction, vendor/crafts market, children's carnival for the kids, and adorable CARA pups available for adoption!  Come eat, shop and play while raising money for CARA!


Jail n Bail 2013THANK YOU -- CARA's 1st Annual Jail-N-Bail at The Renaissance in Colony Park in Ridgeland was a success despite the gloomy weather.  We appreciate all those who were ARRESTED and JAILED!  We raised a lot of BAIL to replace damaged kennels at the Shelter.  Thanks to all who participated! State Farm ContestWE WON THE STATE FARM NEIGHBORHOOD ASSIST CONTEST!! --  Out of 200 contestants CARA/BREE's Bark Park placed #9 and we won $25,000!!  CARA would like to thank all of those who voted for BREE'S BARK PARK over the past few weeks.  We can't thank you enough for your participation!  We believe the dog park is going to make an incredible impact in the lives of our shelter dogs and also our community!  New Kennels from the Petco GrantPetco Foundation CARA is proud to announce that the Petco Foundation has awarded us a $10,000 grant to continue our kennel renovation project!! Thanks to the Petco Foundation's generosity, CARA will be able to build more new dog kennels for our precious angels. THANK YOU, Petco Foundation!

Patron of the Pets

Your monthly donation gives us funds we can count on each month to keep food in bowls and litter in boxes!

  • $15 a month will feed an animal for one week
  • $25 a month will vaccinate three animals a month
  • $40 a month will spay or neuter an animal
  • $55 a month will help save the life of a heartworm positive
  • dog or feed a nursing mama and her babies.

Tommy, Scooter and Timmy are male tabbies who are 6 to 7 weeks old, weaned and litter trained. Tommy and Scooter are balls of energy while Timmy is a little more reserved.

 Dog of the Week

Lucy is a female Pointer mix who is about 2.5 years old. She was taken out of a hoarding situation by the Humane Society of the U.S. and brought to CARA. Lucy lives to be loved on; she is the kind of dog that would fit into any home.
